Instruments by Polish laureates of the International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Making Competitions

The collection showcases violins made by Polish luthiers and awarded at subsequent editions of the International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Making Competition (Poznań, Poland). On display are instruments built by the best Polish makers, ranging from representatives of the oldest generation, born in the early 20th century, such as Franciszek Marduła from Zakopane or Mieczysław Bielański from Wrocław, to their students and younger generations. According to the competition's rules and regulations, every prize-winning violin becomes the property of the Polish Collection of Violins and may in the future be used by performing violinists, including participants of the Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition. Thus, the two contests – for violin players and violin makers – are linked with an inseparable bond.
